Ode to Sleep

What a wonderful, and yet oh so taken for granted thing sleep is. You never quite realize how great it is, until you have a newborn. Those beautiful hours of sleep between 10 and 8 have never been so elusive until now. Its like, you wake up and take care of the darling child every hour and a half and then you hop back into bed and force yourself to fall asleep as quickly as you can (which only makes you more and more awake) because you don't know how much longer it will be until he wakes up again, 3 hours or 5 minutes. But, then you realize, that although you aren't getting the adequate amount of sleep to run more than an hour on, you are sustaining life to your darling child and bonding with him in ways no one else really ever will. Yea, it totally makes it worth it. Who needs sleep when you've got a cute little boy cooing at you all day and night? So, update time. Kirk is already almost 2 weeks old. Poor guy has an eye goop thing going on. From what I've heard, it's probably just a clogged tear duct, but it's still kinda sad. We are trying to adjust to the "parent" lifestyle. We still can't get used to the fact that we are real life parents, and not just Aunt Marca and Uncle Danny. It's crazy. I have to say, it's the coolest crazy thing ever. Well, I hope I did this blog justice for today. Maybe it will be sufficient until I learn what I'm doing a little bit better!
