Garden.....In the works

I want to have a garden this year. Not that we don't always have one. My grandparents garden is in our backyard and it supplies us, my parents, and grandparents with lots of nice peppers, corn, and peas. I just wanted to contribute this year. So, I bought some seeds. We got some carrots, broccoli, onions, and flowers, just for fun. We planted them last week for family home evening, and guess what? They actually came up. I have no sign of a green thumb so I was actually kind of taken aback by this tiny (and some not so tiny) sprouts. Looks like we will be having vegis in no time!!

So, there is this website, it's basically for gossip. You enter in your town and can gossip anonymously about whatever in your town. So, somebody got on there and posted about how that there is a Mormon cult in Booneville and that they met 2 twin girls from the cult and wanted to alert the public of it. Then there was about 20 messages of banter back and forth about how we worship a serial killer and we are all crazy and then some people saying no they aren't blah blah blah. It is sad how ignorant people can be. I know these "twin girls". They were in Danny's Sunday school class and just graduated high school. It is quite sad because these are 2 of the most upright girls that I know. They are my sister's age and went to school with her and one of my best friends nieces. So, I've known them from a distance for most of their lives. They have always been good girls. It's a shame that these 2 sweet, wholesome girls get attacked for nothing. It's also a shame that people google "mormon" and just assume that whatever comes up first is true. In my short history with the church I've heard all kinds of crazy things that aren't true because some moron believed something he was told. I also find it kinda ridiculous that somebody from another faith can tell us that we are going to "perish" because we don't believe what they believe. My sister's boyfriend (who is VERY church of Christ) came to visit last week. We were talking about our being Mormon and he said "You know, I don't have the authority to judge." Amen. No one here really does. Especially ole Irma Jean from the First Freewill Church of Methodist (not a real person nor church). The church is true, the book is blue. That is all.

Picky Eater

Me: Kirk, what do you want for supper?
Kirk: Um, noodles. Maybe some frackers (crackers). And a chance of meatballs.

So, he had butter noodles and I had chicken salad....although the recipe I found called for 2 c of chicken and 3/4 c of mayo....blah. I prefer mine not to be dripping. Yuck.

Miracles Happen

I could hear Joey in his room waking up from his nap. I went in to get him and there he was, standing up in his bed.

Potty Training

This is going way better than I expected....which kinda scares me. Today and yesterday we've only had one "accident". Plus, he's telling me he has to go and not vise versa. I am getting my hopes up a bit. Maybe things will keep going this well!!!!!

Potty Training: Day 1

Hmmm...this day was not really a success, but not a total failure either. The day started off pretty well. No fits when I told him no to the diaper. I told him he could be naked but if he wanted to go outside and play he would have to wear undies. So, guess what? He wore undies. Definitely a success. However, we went through like, 5 pairs today. He is so stubborn. I would try to remind him every now and then "hey, let's go potty." He would scream no, freak out, and then pee his pants out of spite. I swear. However, we went to walmart with my mom and he wore a pull up. He stayed dry the whole time we were gone and was still dry before he went to bed. Typical bribery won't work for him, so I have devised a new plan. Toys. I went to the dollar tree and bought several junk toys. Ya know, the kind that he will think are totally awesome that I can just throw away the next day. And for a dollar. I also bought some snacks and "fill in the blank" coupons. I brought all this stuff home and put it in a little bucket (also from dollar tree) and it is now our potty treat bucket. If he goes he can pick 1 thing out. It worked once tonight. My mom took him to the bathroom and he was not down with going. He came out and saw the bucket. I told him that he could pick something if he went potty. He said "I want to go potty!" and he went and did downfall....he will only pee outside. Redneck, right? Oh well. It's a step in the right direction.

Dress up and go to the mall = see no one you know

Wear a t-shirt and no make up and go to walmart = see everyone you've ever known your entire life

Potty Time

I am making Kirk potty tomorrow. Making. I think that he knows that the diaper is a catch all for the yuckies, so he doesn't mind too much. We talked about it tonight and I told him that we aren't wearing diapers tomorrow. He can either wear underwear or go naked. He chose naked. Great. I will have an at least half naked kid running around my house tomorrow. We tried this once before and it was the biggest stride we've been able to make. He also learned that he could pee outside and that was pretty much the coolest thing ever. So, wish us luck! I will update tomorrow night!

Just A Swangin

So, as my earlier post said, we got a swing set for the short people. It was a pain to put together, but I think it will totally be worth it. Kirk has gone out every morning right after breakfast begging to swing. It feels so great outside now too....70 degrees whoop whoop! So, after lunch the 3 of us went out. Everybody was just so happy!

On a side note, my baby will be a year old next month. I am totally freaked out by this. It wasn't a big deal with Kirk. He was so grown up already, he seemed way older than 1. But Joey is just still so little in my eyes. He is almost ready to be off the bottle and in a front facing car seat. I'm totally not prepared. Here's a picture of 2 of my favorites!

Note To Self:

Never, EVER, forget to take your crazy pills. If you do, you will end up beating your kid and having a nervous breakdown inside of Walmart.

I hate to be corny, but.....

For family home evening this past Monday we did something that we love to do, delive goodies to our friends! Instead of doing the normal cookie plate, we went with something a bit different....Popcorn! This is super fun and easy and the kiddos can help!

First, I let Kirk decorate a bunch of paper bags with hearts. He did an excellent job!
Next, I popped some popcorn. I melted a little bit of vanilla almond bark and dyed it pink. I put it in a zippy bag, clipped the corner and drizzled it over the corn. Warning! The kids might want to help too much with this part! Kirk said "Mommy! Squirt some in my mouth!"
Finally, I printed out some tags (from here), put the cooled popcorn in the bag, and attached the tags!
It was quite fun to make and was an awesome way to spend our Monday night together!

I'm Such A Sucker......

I have managed to crash 2 computers recently. One of which was a BRAND NEW laptop that we just got last friday. Everytime we use a search engine and click on a page it redirects us. Also, we have this thing that will pop up saying something along the lines of "Your computer is infected, check for viruses" and a fake virus scan will come up. We took our new computer in to best buy and it was so messed up they had to give us a brand new one. And, they said they thought it was virus I was getting through my facebook (say it ain't so!)!!! Anybody have any advice? We have an antivirus- webroot. Anybody got anything???

Party on Wayne!!!!!

Although it was one of the most horrible things that I've seen in a while....the fact that Dana Carvey and Mike Meyers did Wayne's World this past Saturday on SNL totally rocked my world!
