Family Update!

Tuesday we took the Kirk boy to the doctor for his wonderful 4 month checkup! He is now 15 lbs 6.5 oz and is 26 in long. Yay Kirk! He also got those great 4 month shots. Dumb ole mom forgot to give him Tylenol before hand and his was not a happy camper. Shots make him tired though, so he slept all the rest of the day.
Last week, Danny started his new job at Movie Gallery in Baldwyn. He got promoted from a regular worker at Booneville to manager at Baldwyn. He is also going to school full time for drafting, needless to say he has his hands full! We are so proud of him for all he does for our little family!
As for me, I am running the house while Dan is out. I'm doing to typical "wife" and "mom" chores, plus all the "husband" chores Dan isn't able to do. There is barely a spare minute at the Williams house!

The Good Ole Wilson Family

Well, I guess I have never actually written a nice blog about the Good Ole Wilsons, so here we go. We were able to spend Sunday (grandparents day) with my side of the family. We ate lunch with my parents and my mom's parents. Then later on we went over to my dad's parents house. I really enjoy the time we are able to spend with them. There is no one more important in a child's life (besides his own parents) than the grandparents. I know what a great role my grandparents played in my rearing and my childhood. I will never forget all the times that I spent playing out in the yard and making mudpies for my grandparents. Nor will I forget the trips my grandparents took me on. That part of me I will never let go, for it has helped to make me into the person that I have become. I am glad to know that my Kirk and my future children have such wonderful grandparents and greatgrandparents (not just on my side of course, wink wink). I love my family and am thankful for them.

Getting back to the roots

This weekend, we had the wonderful opputunity to travel to Nauvoo, for the sealing of Mark and Kim. We anticipated that this was going to be somewhat of an uplifting experience, but we had no idea what amazing experiences we were going to have. Our first stop was in Carthage. We were able to tour the jail. Great-Grandpa Bunker at that time shared his most moving testimony with the family, drawing more than just a few tears. That night, we drove on into Nauvoo and got our first view of the temple, lit in its grandeur. After a quick meal, we were off to bed. This next morning, we were able to witness Mark and Kim's sealing. What a wonderful occasion. It was wonderful to have the family there and experience that event together. Later in the afternoon, we toured Old Nauvoo. We saw Joseph Smith's home, his parents home, his gravesite, and many other historic sites. We then went over to the vistors center. There, we watched the Joseph Smith movie. We have never been moved so much in our lives. We went later that night and watched a play about the early Mormon pioneers and their exodus out of Nauvoo. Over this weekend, I was made more aware than ever of the tremendous sacrifice of these people. Believe what you may about the LDS church, what those people went through was horrible and usually completely selfless. I don't know what it would be like to have to move, be tarred and feathered, or even killed for anything that I believe in. I am thankful for all the people in every aspect of my past that gave up for the things that they believed were right.

Payback is a baby!

This afternoon, Danny decided we should all go for a little walk around the yard. The ground here is WAY too unlevel to put Kirk in his stroller, so Danny thought it would be fun to try Kirk in his "backpack". He also volunteered to wear it while we were walking. He put it on and we made our way around the yard. By, I'd say, maybe the 3rd lap, he looked at me and said "I don't know how you did it." Yea, yea, yea, I know Kirk has nearly doubled in weight since he was born. But, Danny is about double as strong as I am. So, that makes up for it right? After about 20 minutes, Dan was pooped, so we made our way inside. 20 minutes at double the weight....does that equal a couple of months at half the weight? Kirk was also a good sport and let Mom take a couple of pictures of him. I particularly think that this one is very fetching!
I have decided, that, like Danny said, it was kind of hard (and heavy) to carry him around for 9 months, but, I would not trade it for a second. Just one look at that beautiful face, and I know I would have been willing to be pregnant for 9 more months (but thank goodness I didn't have to be! Whew!)!

This is our newest family picture!

Thumbsucker

Ok, so I know this probably won't be so cute in about 7 years, but right now, I think it is kinda precious! He's been working on it since the day he was born, and today, he finally mastered the thumbsucking technique. So, at the request of Amanda, here is a picture of Kirk and his newest skill!
